In 1994, David D, Barton applied for and was issued a patent for the Access Plug Flange.  Mr. Barton believed that his idea for a better product would greatly improve safety and reliability factors for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).  Nobody ever thought that he would set a new standard that is still in place today.  Access Plug Flange, Inc. now supplies the industry with over 250,000 inspection plugs yearly.  Since that day, two other patents have been issued to Mr. Barton for the cold check and the heat check versions of the Access Plug Flange and it is currently protected under 7 worldwide patents.

David Barton, using his background in engineering, has been inventing new applications and improving existing applications for solving customer's problems for many years.  Mr. Barton started Southern Stud Weld, Inc. (a sister company of Access Plug Flange, Inc.) over 17 years ago.  David was able to help companies find better ways to increase their profits by reducing costs.  These ideas are still in effect today in everything he does.  By providing a quality product at a fair price and excellent service after the sell, David has taken two startup companies and built them both into worldwide corporations, each respected in its own field.

In November 2000, Southern Stud Weld, Inc. diversified its holdings and formed Access Plug Flange, Inc.  Today, each company represents quality, honesty and integrity.  David has spent a great deal of time and effort to put together a team of individuals who also hold these ideas as true.
